Zirconia is the second-most popular option. A fairly new dental implant material, zirconia is still in the process of being tested. That said, it enables a one-piece post and abutment and thereby has the potential to keep germ and bacteria buildup to a minimum.
Other materials are less in use these days, as they don't provide the functional capabilities of the two materials listed above.
Understanding the Surface Treatment of an Implant
The last thing you need to know about dental implant types is the kind of surface treatment they use. Surface treatment refers to a substance that's applied to the exterior of the implant. The purpose of this substance is to trigger bone growth in the jaw.
There are many different types of surface treatment. Some surface treatments include grinding, sanding, and other forms of surface wear. Other surface treatments involve the use of chemical substances such as alkali, acids, and sol-gel.
Anodization is increasingly common with dental implant surface treatments. This is the process of thickening the implant's TiO2 layer while also slightly roughing it up. This creates increased osteoconductivity, thereby facilitating greater osteointegration.

Astra® EV
Possessing a rough surface treatment and tapered design, this implant does a superb job of facilitating bone growth. It's made out of titanium.
Astra® Osseospeed
Whereas the EV has a rough surface treatment, the Osseospeed has a smooth surface treatment. Apart from that, these two implants are the same.
BioHorizons® Internal and External Hex
This is another titanium dental implant. It can be made with either an interior hex connection or an exterior hex connection, allowing for great versatility.
Camlog®
This implant has a rough surface treatment and conical design. It's made out of titanium and does a great job of facilitating bone growth.
Conelog®
This is like the Camlog® but with a smooth surface treatment instead of rough. It still possesses the conical design and is still made out of titanium.
Dentium®
Possessing a rough surface treatment and tapered design, this implant offers tremendous bone growth. It's made out of titanium.
DESSLoc®
If you're trying to place an implant in a challenging area, this is the implant for you. It's made out of titanium.
Hiossen®
This one possesses a tapered design and smooth surface treatment. It's also made out of titanium.
Megagen Anyridge®

These are tapered with a rough surface treatment. They're made out of titanium.
V3
The V3 has a tapered design with a smooth surface treatment. It's also made out of titanium.
